Sept 2005/July 2006 Wilsden Pre-School Profile

What have been our successes this year?

  • We have run a full pre-school with 26 children at every session and had children, for the first time, on a waiting list.

  • We employed a qualified teacher.

  • We received our certificate and celebrated passing Accreditation and incorporated the logos in our new letterhead.

  • Following on from a grant from the Early Years and Childcare Service in Bradford we had alteration work carried out on the village hall kitchen and our cupboard. We also made an office/networking room out of an old shower room.

  • Our luncheon club went from strength to strength with each session being full of 16 children and a waiting list.

  • We bought a new computer, monitor and software for the children so enabling the computer to be out at every session.

  • Staff have contine to attend training courses, in their own time, to increase their knowledge and understanding of working with 2-5 year olds.

  • The village hall had a CCTV camera installed which includes the entrance and pre-school door. Visitors to the pre-school are now recorded.

How are we ensuring our children enjoy and achieve?

  • Following on from the Accreditation process we now plan our room for our younger children around the Birth to Three framework.

  • Play leader attended a course around Birth to Three then cascaded it to the staff.

  • Our focus activities include birth to three and levels of the foundation stage profile so all children can achieve at their own pace.

  • The comments on the exit questionnaire positively stated the children enjoyed coming to pre-school and the parents are happy with the provision and staff.

  • Through observations and photographs the staff are aware of what the children enjoy doing.

  • Through weekly team meetings staff keep in contact about the children and what they are to achieve next.

  • Our Foundation Stage Profile Sheets are passed on to our children's Primary School for their staff to work on during the holidays. Children who leave our setting do so on level two, and some dabble in level three

  • Regular meetings are held with the parents and key workers enabling staff to keep up to date with the children and their interests.
