How effective are we in protecting our children from harm and neglect and how do we keep them safe?

  • Our linking sessions with 'big' school have been changed to mornings so that parents can now drop them off there at 9.00a.m.

  • Luncheon Club Supervisors come across to 'big'school to help us return the children to pre-school for their lunch so making staff - children ratios high.

  • All staff/volunteers are police checked and volunteers/students on work experience are never alone with any child.

  • The village hall had a CCTV camera installed which includes the entrance and pre-school door. Visitors to the pre-school are now recorded.

  • We have put up new fencing around the play area and chopped down a dead tree.

  • We have a new computer, monitor and software for the children so enabling the computer to be out at every session.

  • Further to our Accreditation statements we have reassessed and amended our Child Protection Policy.

How are we helping them make a positive contribution to our provision and the wider community?

  • We continue to have strong links with Wilsden Primary School enabling children feel confident and positive when they attend there in September.

  • We have continued to consolidate our rules with the children making them aware of the consequences of unacceptable behaviour.

  • We introduced certificates and smiley stampers to recognise good work/ achievements/good behaviour.

  • We held our Christmas Nativity at the local church and 175 people attended.

  • We held a version of our Christmas Nativity and performed it for the older people in our village who attend the Tuesday Luncheon Club.

  • We held a Christmas Nativity for our younger children and invited parents, children, friends and the Toddler Group from the village hall.

  • We made a DVD of both our Christmas Nativities and sold to parents as a fund raiser.

  • We linked with 'big' school for a joint Chinese New Year and Easter party.
